You're pressed for time on an animation project. How do you maintain quality while negotiating extensions?

Take your entire life if necessary, even if it's always unfinished and still in your heart when you pass. Later generations might discover its half-built skeleton and attempt to figure out what you were trying to do. But the reason you never finished, is because it could not be expressed in any medium. Accept the hard truth that some ideas will die with you and no one will truly know you. You're just too complex and beautiful a person.

one thing I found helpful is to finish the task even if you are not happy about the end result. It's a business So don't make it too complicated just do it but for a personal project, I suggest spending more time as it has the potential to get lots of new opportunities

I remember handling my first animation project and they wanted me to deliver in such a short time. Well, I wanted the work experience and took the job. During the cause of the project, I discovered that the time was shorter than I even envisioned. I had to go back to my task and ensure they had the quality I had promised and the work was done properly than they would have imagined on short notice. Then I called the supervisor and the rest of the team asking for a meeting. During the meeting, I showed my renders and how far I had gone on the project. They loved it and before I could communicate that I needed more time. They asked the question "Would the remaining time be enough for completion with this quality?" Bingo! I had to ask.

It is crucial to maintain constant alignment in quality control. Our primary responsibility is to ensure that we meet the complexity requirements for each project and to promptly identify and address any issues that arise. Effective communication and strong problem-solving skills are essential for resolving any issues or fixing them in a timely manner.

I agree that communicating early can help a lot. Whether it's a storyboard or ideation or a delay in production we need to keep customers in loop and early. Customers have a timeline too to make use of the piece he has trusted us with. It will enthuse confidence in us and help customers plan their future use of the project accordingly. It will also educate him about the project life cycle and possible challenges which will definitely be considered by him in further activities.

you always hear communication is key and it's true. most of the time clients don't even care about deadlines so be clear to them and it helps in building trust

La forma más eficiente para optimizar tiempo es tener pasos claros a seguir en la animación, por ejemplo el mío sería: 1-rough animation 2-lineart de cada escena 3-agregar o poner frames de ser necesario 4-cleanup de todo el material 5-coloring 6-BG 7-efectos o movimientos de cámara 8-revisar todo el material 9-volver a revisar todo el material 10-revisar x3 y enviar el trabajo

In my experience, and what I've taught my students with regards to deadlines, always aim for the original deadline agreed upon. Have something to deliver, even if it's not 100%. Even a day or 2 before the deadline, show the client what you have thus far and say, "If I had more time, I could complete it to 100%". If the client grants mercy & agrees, then you better work your butt off to finish it. Pull all nighters if you need to. But after the project is done, you MUST analyze what caused the initial miss? Too complex, overestimating your skill, laziness on your team/you?... If you are very far from completion, don't wait until deadline to speak up and notify the client, but have something to show and present solutions, not problems.
