You'd be amazed at how many social media people I've interviewed who have not done research on the company - its a basic requirement to have a conversation about the job. What platforms are we on, what are your thoughts on the content, how do we compare to the competition, and come with ideas and thoughtful insights into how to do better. A TikTok strategy is not relevant for all companies, so do your due diligence, understand what platforms work for their target audience, and craft an organized thoughtful outline of how you would improve what they have, and make it impactful and measureable.

Learn about their business, target audience, brand voice, and existing social media presence. This will help you tailor your answers to their specific needs and demonstrate your understanding of their brand.

PREPARE!! If you can come to the interview with an example of what styles of content you would produce for that company it will set you apart! Especially if you are a social media producer, showing is always better than telling!

Your Research Could Be as Shallow as a Kiddie Pool ???♂? Let's cut to the chase: skimming a company's homepage and calling it 'research' is a rookie mistake. Deep diving into the company's social media strategy reveals not only their public face but their underlying marketing goals and challenges. Tailoring your application to reflect an understanding of their specific needs can set you apart as a candidate who truly gets it.

An interview is your chance to sell them on YOU, and the job description is your roadmap for how to do that successfully. You don't need to talk about everything you've done in your career. Instead, highlight past experiences or projects that directly relate to the expectations of the role. You'll REALLY shine if you can quantify your achievements.

Thinking One Size Fits All is a Career Limiting Move ?? Here's a wake-up call: treating every social media marketing role as interchangeable is the fastest way to show you don't understand the field. Roles can range from the highly creative to the deeply analytical. Demonstrating how your skills align with the specific demands of the job shows you're not just looking for any job, but the right job.

First thing is read the JD before applying and if selected for interview, go through the JD again to match with your skill set and past experience What can you bring on table for the company matters a lot to the company

Social media roles have gone too broad. Your chances of getting a reply will be high if you do these: My advice be clear about the role. Ask about the responsibilities and expectations of the role. Before applying check the skills match or tools match.

They got the job.
