Faced with managing a global project, I quickly learned and implemented new tools to handle its complexity. I adapted my communication and leadership style to accommodate different cultural backgrounds, ensuring effective collaboration across the team. When an unexpected delay threatened the timeline, I led a brainstorming session that resulted in a successful contingency plan, keeping the project on track. This experience underscored the importance of embracing new skills, adjusting to team dynamics, and staying solution-focused, all contributing to the project's success.

I really value reflection. I believe that every experience offers a chance to reflect and learn, but especially the times when things don’t go as planned. When I’ve faced such situations, countless people have told me it was a invaluable learning experience- and even though it was tough to look back objectively, they were all right. We learn 10 times more from the projects that don't go as desired, than the ones that do. It's a hard lesson but a highly valuable one.

I once was brought in to manage a project that had spent 6 of the allotted 12 months and had accomplished about 1 months worth of work. I brought together the team and asked what needed to be done and any barriers of which they were aware. We built a plan together and identified workarounds for many of the barriers. 3 weeks before the allotted time was spent, we delivered. The lesson learned was let people share their thoughts and concerns to solve problems and create success.

Never underestimate the amount of learning that can from something as simple as a conversation. This is the time to utilise your network, see what experts you have in your arsenal and ask them about topic you're unclear on. Just showing interest in a variety of topics indicates to interviewers that you have curiosity, something that is essential for someone manging change at any level.

It always pays to try something different. Often such ventures into the unknown open doors for future success. Often new technology is a confluence of existing or legacy concepts that have been merged into something new. By taking the risk to work with it, such relationships can be understood and leveraged to extract more value from the new and cement understanding to be better positioned for a new career opportunity.

Understand the "global language" - English language. Although we assume it is the same for everyone we can very intensively sense the difference between non-native English speakers. One of the features causing these difference is our country background - country where were born and/or live in, the culture we raised in. We can also immediately hear the differences in accent and even recognize, from where the non-native speaker comes from. Communication, as we all know, is the key of successful collaboration in diverse environment, where the team is international. It is one of the diversity matters that you can expose during your interview. Show an example of how you won people's minds in daily collaboration through communication.
