I would add to this comprehensive checklist, hire the best sound engineer that you can afford. Sure, you can do it yourself and get a decent sound out of it. However, it seems foolish to go to great lengths to hire a great sound system for your event only to get a mediocre result because you don't really know what you're doing. A good engineer can make an average system sound good and a good one great. Also it allows you to focus on the other aspects of the event and let the engineer do his thing. The sound can make or break a live event so money invested in a good engineer will pay dividends in the long run.

Always opt for the absolute best sound engineers, or audio production team you can. The cost will always be the most important investment but don't blow your budget. Always have a list of things that absolutely must be done and must be present to create the best experience for you in sound and for your audience. It's never a bad idea to do some tests in audio and do a full run of the most explosive sections of your performance to make sure everything is good. And trust your teams to do what they do best.

This is a loaded question Are you bringing your own PA? Own soundman? Are you using house PA? Are you using the House Engineer? Did the venue hire a 3rd party to run sound? All that has to be answered before I can answer that question
