AR/VR certainly enables immersive digital experiences, but their potential goes way beyond that. Tech like gesture inputs, spatial computing, and AI-infused AR are making digital interactions more inclusive. AI-infused AR, like Microsoft’s Seeing AI, provides contextual info to visually impaired users, offering auditory descriptions, real-time object recognition, and navigation aids. Recently, I had the opportunity to work on two Augmented Reality (AR) projects, and it was the best experience to have as an UX Researcher and UI Designer. While building any product that includes AR or VR, you should keep that in mind that this technology is not familiar among all users. So to make it more accessible your UX research should be on point. AR and VR are the future for product designers.

As a technology 3D printing has reached every product design thanks to lower costs and advancement systems. Now we are able to prototype and feel the impact of the design as quickly as possible. Even though some specific technologies like the SLS or DLP or metal 3d printing are still expensive to get the machines, there are contract manufacturing options that are available for single units with which we are able to assess the final output / finish of the product even before mass manufacturing which earlier used to be difficult because of subtractive manufacturing processes. While low cost 3D printing technology has been helpful for quick validation whereas advanced technologies have become helpful to make complex structures easier.

While 3D printing has been around for a while, advancements in this technology continue to expand its applications in product design. Multi-material printing, improved resolution, and the ability to print with a wider range of materials (including metals) are making additive manufacturing viable for both prototyping and end-use product production. This technology enables more complex geometries, customization, and on-demand manufacturing.

3D prototyping can be great addition to prototyping practises and helps to realise look and feel of fitment. In specific FDM which is not so costly but easy to use comes handy when you make something from scratch.

I've been exploring how these interfaces can align with a user's life precisely when needed, making experiences: Personalised: Tailored to individual needs and preferences. Adaptive: Dynamically responding to changing user contexts. Predictive: Anticipating user needs before they arise. By embracing these trends, UX design is poised to become more intuitive, engaging, and relevant to each user's unique situation.

Being passionate about innovative products, a product designer always goes with some uncommon approaches and checks for tech-driven trends going on in the industry, which gives him an edge to think differently and be motivated towards building something unique. User Experience design also plays a crucial role in creating next-gen products using Generative AI, Personalization, Emotional intelligence, Accessibility, Behavioral studies, etc. User experience design ensures products work seamlessly for the user and fulfill the business objectives. Ultimately, ensures the success of the product.
