In addition to verifying the legitimacy of the resource you’re looking at, it’s helpful to always look at the original sources that each resource is citing (both per article and across the collection): Are they all citing the same primary source(s)? Are the sources they cite legitimate too? What’s the potential bias contributing to the source of the facts being referenced (for example, were there potential conflicts of interest that might influence how fact were presented and/or interpreted [e.g., funding source, personal relationships, politically-relevant affiliations])? Did the author re-interpret findings or miss important context from the original source?

Cross-checking isn’t just about finding the same information in different places; it’s about understanding the different contexts in which information is presented. Look for subtle differences in how facts are reported, as this can reveal underlying biases or gaps in understanding. The more varied the perspectives you consult, the more robust your understanding will be.
