You’re a new programmer looking to get ahead. What programming languages should you learn first?

It totally depends on our interest . Actually while many web developers use the javascript to program and many ios developers use the Swift programming langauge and the ones who do app development prefer to go with the dart programming language and now a days many of them also prefer to work with the Go language . So when we pick up our respective field it's better to go ahead with the languages related to the respective field . Many of them even implement data structures using the javascript .So learning a programming language related to the field helps us to go ahead in terms of development and interviews .

I answer similar question but it was regarding specialization before, but to decide which programming language to learn first, consider your goals: 1. Web Development: Start with HTML/CSS for front-end and JavaScript or Python for back-end. 2. Software Development: Learn Java or C# for strong object-oriented programming foundations. 3. Mobile Apps: Choose Swift for iOS or Kotlin for Android development. 4. Data Science: Pick up Python for its rich ecosystem of data libraries. 5. Game Development: Consider C++ for performance in game engines. 6. Automation/Scripting: Shell scripting or Python for their ease of learning and versatility. Your purpose should align with the language's strengths and industry demand.

It mainly depends on your will. What you are going to do with a programming language. First understand that. Then search for that. Because every language has its own strengths and weaknesses. If your going to do web development you will need javascript. If you want to work with data then languages like R,python and SQL will help you. If you need to understand some low level programming concepts like memory management then C,C++ will be a good choice. Also we can not forget Java, Java will give you a deep understanding on OOP concepts. Also Java is a highly used programming language in enterprise application development.

I’ve written this on another article but to put it succinctly… If your goals and efforts don’t align with your interests, while it may be possible to “get ahead” with your career, you are making it more improbable. The more you take initiative and grow in areas that ALSO interest you (not just what someone told you is a good path) the more easily you’ll find paths to advance on!

Considering market demand is crucial when choosing programming languages to learn. Research languages favored by your target industries. I agree with above statements. It all depends on what you work for. I’ve mostly worked with Python, especially for scripting in AWS Lambdas and troubleshooting Jython codes. From my experience, focusing on Python has been super beneficial. It’s versatile, easy to learn, and widely used in various fields like Web Development , Data Science, and Automation scripting. For new programmers, diving into Python can be a great starting point. It’s like learning the foundation of a sturdy building – once you’ve got it down, you can build all sorts of cool stuff on top of it. So, if you’re just getting started, consider giving Python a try. It might open up more doors than you think! ????

If your a newbie then you need to select a language that has a huge community support other than some rare languages. Because if you stuck you have to find some help. But if the language is rare then you will find a hard time. If your a intermediate one then this won't be a problem because you know what your doing, you have a understanding about basic concepts.

Programming languages evolve all the time. What you need is to grab basic concepts. Then you just have to apply those things to new languages. You might find that boring, learning all the theory things rather than applying to real world problems. Yes, that's true it is boring but you need a strong foundation for a long term run. So learn basics and then be flexible. Every language has it's own strengths and weaknesses. You need to be flexible and don't stick with the same language. For an example if your working with data you have to use python not c. So be flexible.

Ruby and Python are the easiest languages to start. You can choose as per your plan:- - Choose Ruby(Rails) if want to become a web developer. - Python is best suited for the data science or ML/AI

Python may be easiest to pick up in regard to syntax since it reads well, which in turn can help you focus more on programming concepts. However, C or C++ may give you a more in depth “lower-level” angle that will benefit you in the long run, however, may have a longer “ramp up” time. I recommend either of those languages to start.

Simple, When i started learning programming i started with c programming which is because of my college curriculum the first practical subject was c programming and before that i was never introduced with any programming language, so the point is you can start with any language you want just do it in a fun and exciting way and you will be good at it
