Depending on your specific requirements, weather you are high volume e-commerce shipper, or a less frequent larger shipper of LTL and FTL shipments, the best advice I can offer is to seek expert advice from a freight forwarder who will typically have a customs brokerage team or engage the use of software that connects to your e-commerce platform (#zonos) and automatically chooses the correct HS code when setting up. #globalfreightforwarding #logisticssolutions #transportworks

Designating a team to handle customs related matters is important because they are more knowledgeable about customs requirements. If other departments get involved in this communication, it can sometimes complicate things, requiring more explanations, which can cause delays and increase effort.

I would like to write in context of Saudi Arabia. The customs regulations in the kingdom have improved with the introduction of Saber platform, streamlining the clearance process. Importers must ensure all goods comply with local standards and are registered in Saber. For regulated imports, a Product Conformity Certificate (PCOC) is required, which involves submitting a factory license, QM certificate, and third-party (TUV or Intertek) attested product details. After obtaining the PCOC, an importer can apply for the Shipment Conformity Certificate (SCOC). VAT and customs fees must be paid electronically, and timely customs clearance is crucial to avoid demurrage charges.
