In a world where most replicate rather than emulate, we can find and boost our personal brand by emulating rather replicating. Emulating allows one to see what good looks like and to leverage attributes to find or refine their personal brands. Once you find yourself, you will know it and realize it’s your unique you that is your superpower.

Be authentic and transparent to build credibility. Understand individuals learn differently and may need various methods for success. Use active listening to determine when you need to pivot. Explore the generational difference to create customized facilitation for those unique audiences. Be engaging and show interest. Leverage all available tools to market your brand and help you stand out.

Be the Magician: We all subscribe to a popular and established brand, facilitation is no different. However, if we can offer unique modes operandi to drive home lessons and help achieve desired deliverables, we can create magic. What is your Service Brand? Be it Transformational, Culture Development Driven, Strategic, Collaborative and others, your dedication towards your defined and delivered Branding is essential in your relevance. While setting a mark (that sets one apart) is good, the client high recall of your branding effectiveness, most importantly, ultimately determines your Brand Success.

This means knowing your subject matter and the audience that will help marketing and social change in the fast growing global market

Jack of all trades, will only fetch the pale of water: Identify your strengths, curriculum or deliver or method; and weaknesses. Don’t keep ‘making money’ as prima donna at the start. Once done, don’t hesitate to pick one and be open to even collaborate for other aspects initially. Deliver curated programs and learn other weaker areas of work simultaneously. We initially started with three partners, all masters in their field. Our programs are well respected and subscribed.

Engagement is like the fuel that keeps a high-performance engine running. In facilitation, staying connected with your audience at every stage is key to standing out. For instance, in my work with new leaders, I connect with them before the learning event to ask questions and introduce them to their mentors. During the event, I’m actively checking for their understanding. Afterward, I assess whether the learning was impactful and share additional tools. I've always said impactful facilitation should be viewed as a process, not an event. By treating engagement as essential fuel, you make your sessions more effective and build lasting relationships, setting yourself apart from the rest.

To keep facilitation fresh and engaging, I've utilized several effective tools. For instance, Kahoot! makes learning fun with interactive quizzes and games, while Microsoft Teams offers breakout rooms for collaborative sessions. I use SurveyMonkey and Google Forms to collect feedback and refine my approach based on participant insights. I'm also excited to experiment with new tools like ZapWorks for creating AR experiences, Layar for overlaying digital information on physical objects, Oculus for Business for immersive VR experiences, and Padlet for organizing ideas and interactive discussions. After all, even a GPS needs updates now and then. - By being responsive and flexible, you'll stay relevant and in demand in the competitive world of facilitation.

My way or the Highway: One of my colleagues who is good in conducting facilitation programs, had a solvable yet adamant human problem. Follow only what I say and do only what I tell. The programs slowly became coaching classes and once the cardinal sin of criticising lesser participants in public became a norm, surely enough, the establishment tanked with little revenue and poor publicity. Another colleague, who was somewhat lesser on delivery compared to the other person, was always open to learning. Generated beautiful discussions & made conversations enjoyable. Voila! He cracked the code. The brand created its niche’ and respect accompanied revenue.

Facilitar medios para recibir retroalimentación a los participantes... No siempre se sienten a gusto expresando sus sensaciones en las sesiones directamente al facilitador. Por ejemplo: nosotros utilizamos un peque?o formulario de 4 preguntas que los participantes completan al final de las sesiones y los mantiene anónimos. A través de esto, hemos establecido que tenemos un NPS superior a 90/100 puntos y también hemos recibido grandes sugerencias para mejorar nuestra forma de facilitar sesiones de aprendizaje

As a facilitator, practicing ongoing exercises to develop my emotional intelligence through self-awareness, self-regulation, decision making, and empathy and more is key. If I show up fully curious and as emotionally healthy as I can be at that moment - I can more fully serve and be “on” for the betterment of those for whom I’ve been invited.
