Running out of time in a presentation can be daunting. Ever faced this and turned it around? Share your experience.

The best thing you can do is to run your presentation by real people for feedback prior to giving it to get an idea of how long it’s running this should prevent this problem. But once it’s going and you’re running out of time one of the best things to do is to confidently pause, gather your thoughts, and end on your strong, prepared ending. Just don’t make the mistake of saying you’re out of time or mention all the things you can’t cover.

Cramming in too much information is a common mistake that inexperienced speakers make. If you know your topic focus on three things 1. Must say 2. Should say 3. If I have time say And yes – practice timing before is essential. But if you find yourself running out of time, go back to the must says.

When you are running out of time during a presentation, the very first essential thing to do is to keep your composure. Be calm and remain confident. The other things to consider are; - Prioritize your key points -Summarize sections very briefly -Skip Non- essential information -Encourage questions for follow up. -Offer additional resources you can share after the presentation. The key is to quickly refocus and deliver a strong, concise conclusion. Start by taking a brief pause and a deep breath. This can help calm your nerves and allow you to gather your thoughts. Once you’ve done that, return to your core message by summarising the main point you want your audience to remember. You might say something like, “The key takeaway here is…” which will help re-center the conversation. If you’ve lost your train of thought, you can use a transition phrase like, “In the interest of time, let me focus on what’s most important…” This allows you to steer the discussion back to your key message …

Pick up the tempo and hit your points. In any argument, or presntation/pitch, there are three main points you want to stick to and dial home. Make them curious and don't forget your call to action.
