Changing your career in the middle of life, moving to a totally new area (as in my case Materials Science) consists mainly on building upon your existent knowledge base and acquiring a new curriculum. Identify the skills that can be applied, such as problem-solving, project management and analytical thinking. Dip into interdisciplinary areas movement in renewables, data science, or product. Take certifications, online courses or master your niche over a degree in any specific way. Make use of industry events, LinkedIn or professional organization networks to identify options. Focus your resume around the achievements which are relevant, and get some experience in the new domain through internships or consultancy assignments.
