Moreover, feedback should be timely and consistent; give it soon after observing performance and follow up regularly to monitor progress. As a mentor, you have the opportunity to motivate and inspire your mentees to pursue their goals and achieve their potential. Motivation and inspiration are essential for sustaining their interest, engagement, and commitment. To do this, you should lead by example and demonstrate your own goal setting, feedback, and reflection skills. Additionally, challenge and empower them by encouraging them to set challenging but realistic goals that will stretch their abilities and skills. Provide them with autonomy, responsibility, and ownership of their goals and actions. Additionally, support them with the resources, guidance, and encouragement they need to achieve their goals. Connect them with other mentors, peers, experts or networks that can help them expand their knowledge, skills or opportunities. Show your interest, care, and trust in your mentees and their goals.
