I'm going to shift to a more people-focused metric: the Say-Do ratio. If your suppliers say they will do something and then don't deliver, that ratio drops. If they continually deliver what they have committed, that ratio stays at 1.0. The lower this number gets, the more concerned you should be. Listen to your supply chain. They are people too.

Trouble is not a failure and cannot be avoided 100% but must be viewed as a challenge that should result in learned lessons and future measures for success 1-Adéquate Initial evaluation of the supplier and tiers before becoming business partners of that specific part or material. This would include . Initial extensive audit to insure processes are established documented and followed. . First article evaluation . Process substantiation 2- Continuous monitoring of the supplier quality system 3- the supplier needs to monitor the process to ultimately have a product or material far from the defined limits. A such controlled process should yield certification of the supplier.
