To managing a team is about how good the communication is and open floor for the discussion along with actively listening the members. Importantly, Appreciation and recognition for the team members for putting their efforts to achieve the common goal we have as a team.

When managing a team with diverse skill sets, in a business context as well as in team sports, here are a few aspects to be considered: - "Focus on the game". Make sure that all team members are given a common goal/vision, understand it and plainly adhere to it. - "Team spirit". Value the contribution of every member to the pursuit of this goal/vision. All involved disciplines are of equal importance. Promote a culture of mutual respect. - "Pass the ball around". Avoid emergence of silos. Ensure constant communication and collaboration. - "Even the goal can score". Do not restrict anyone to their core domain. Encourage members to go beyond their recognized specialties, learn new things, make suggestions or challenge experts (respectfully).

Interesting question. As a team lead/manager, my first job is to get the bird's eye view. Managing people with different skill sets for a big project, is just like solving a jigsaw puzzle. I have to put all the pieces of skills in exact order for everyone to function in harmony. Also, I don't believe in Jack of all trades concept, so normally for each role I will gather some firsthand experience ASAP to determine who will suit best for that position. If no 2 teammate have to do exactly same job, then everyone will be responsible for his own task and a team spirit will arise and blame game will reduce.
