The tools are less important to me than the approach. How is the team organized? Is it a single team working in a single timezone? It is a distributed team working in shifts? Is it all employees or a mix of employees and contractors. How do the team members work? Single developers, pairs, ensembles? Some mix? The structure of the team and how you choose to organize work across the team is a far more important decision that any particular tool. That being said, here are things we've done on a remote project. 1. Organize groups by timezones. 2. Organize work vertically by timezones 3. Ensembles take work from a story map, create a discovery tree (dt), and work the effort, keeping the dt up to date. Then use a distributed canvas to share.

The focus should not be on the actual tools but on what is communicated. Teams and Slack are for facilitating communications but it's critical to define what is communicated. Remote software teams need to communicate details concisely, which written and spoken language fail to convey. Communications need to be via pseudo code, sequence diagrams and class structure. For such, figma works well, or even gliffy, does not need to be a fancy system, it just needs to communicate program flow. The next critical step is communication of expectations, interdependencies, and what individuals are doing, when they will be done and what support is needed. So key again is more what is being communicated than what tool.
