As a Podcast Manager, I couldn't agree more with the importance of having a solid plan for your podcast. Think of it like mapping out your journey before hitting the road – it helps you stay on track and reach your destination efficiently.

Mistake #4 ...agreed! Doing it all yourself, and not doing it well, is only going to frustrate you and increase your risk of podfade. If you are spending time and money to use podcasting as an authority, visibility and marketing tool, you want to do it right and leverage every opportunity. And to be blunt.... hiring a VA to help with some of the moving pieces often is not enough. Hire someone or a company that understands your goals, your audience, marketing and podcasting.

One of the best tools for getting things done in podcasting is batching. I recommend you specially batching the recording sessions because is the most diffiult part to accelerate if you're late. Added to that, batching the recordings should give you margin of time. That means you should record your episodes several weeks (or days, at least) before the episode is on air. Try it and you'll probably agree!

Pros work like this. You must too! Treat your podcast like a business. Think like an entrepreneur who needs to save time, energy, and money to get the best possible output. Batch work will really help you ease your workload.

Interacting with your team is essential right from the start so the production process can always go in a way that works for everyone. Try not to think of what could go wrong and just focus on communicating. When everyone knows their deadline or schedule, you will all be in sync. Pre-recorded materials can be submitted within a date you can all agree on so the editing can be done on time. I have a fictional podcast with multiple cast members, and I give flexible timing so everyone can work at their own pace, and it ensures high-quality performances.

Communication is a cornerstone of an effective team. If you're not communicating with your team, you risk overlapping tasks, no tasks being accomplished, deadlines being missed, etc. - the list can go on. I recommend having an effective communication board - a project manager - use tools like automation and software to communicate consistently.

Communication is the key to run any project with a team irrespective of the industry. To have any outcome, every member of the team has to be clear with what their role and responsibility is and also they should be clear with the end goal. At the end of the day, the team is working collectively to achieve that goal. Any hiccups should be shared, any small wins should be shared

When ready to launch, especially with a recommended weekly schedule, it's wise to record a minimum of four episodes in advance and maintain a buffer of no less than two episodes. This strategy is feasible for podcasts centered around evergreen topics, but challenging, if not nearly impossible, for those focusing on current events. Hence, careful consideration of the podcast's nature at the outset is crucial.

Prioritize tasks, set realistic deadlines, and don't hesitate to seek support from your network or professional resources when needed. By avoiding common mistakes and approaching podcast management with intentionality and foresight, you can successfully navigate deadlines and achieve your podcasting goals.

Remember to bank your shows so that your frequency is scheduled and you are comfortable in creating additional content. It will ease out the pressure of releasing as per schedule and will give you the bandwidth to create more content or show.
