In this '6-step' process for managing changing specs, I am missing the distinction between a 'proof of concept' and a 'minimum viable product'. When working towards a 'go-live', it is tempting to cut specs. That must be done: not enough resources, so one must cut stuff and do time-boxing. However, from a recent project, I have learnt that - despite negotiating a more limited scope with the client - final acceptance by the user (and, therefore, users actually using what you built) should never be taken for granted. There is probably nothing worse for an IT project manager to come up with something that works technically but, nevertheless, is not up to the expectations of your final 'customer': the users of your new system or platform.

Establish task priorities: Determine the most essential tasks and allocate resources accordingly. Scope control: Clearly outline the project scope to prevent scope creep. Enhance resource efficiency: Ensure that resources are utilized in an effective and efficient manner. Acknowledge resource limitations: Be mindful of resource constraints and plan accordingly. Develop a feasible timeline: Create a timeline that is realistic based on the resources available. Regularly check progress and modify the timeline as necessary. Consistently inform stakeholders about project developments and any timeline adjustments. Encourage collaboration and cooperation among team members. Implement established project management methodologies and techniques.

As a project manager, you have to be able to see what is coming or what could be coming into the project that will make a change in the direction of the project. Whether it is a risk or something that can increase velocity, being able to react quickly to that change will enable the team to make adjustments and keep going with the least amount of distractions for the team.
