Connect with seasoned writers, maybe join a workshop, or find a mentor who's been around the block. Make writing a daily ritual. Join writing communities or snag a mentor for some pro tips. Sharpen those editing skills; it's like fine-tuning your masterpiece. Dip your toes into the digital realm – start a blog, maybe hang out in some online writing forums.

Writing is all around us - from books to the chalkboard boards standing in front of some shops! Try and remember - what has caught your attention, what has made you smile or do a double take. More than anything else it's important to be conscious of those pieces of written content that make us stop and concentrate on them - and ask the question "why".

A writer without reading is like an F1 racer without a car. Your writing is a work of creativity. And creativity gets sparked when you're able to connect different ideas. But where do ideas come from? They come from reading! Here's what I experienced: The more I read, the more I felt the need to write. When you read a lot, it's like you can't hold it anymore. You kind of feel like you have to output your learnings. At the end of the back and forth of reading and writing, the result that you see is fantastic. A good piece of writing is worth all the efforts. Your lesson? Read more. Writing will automatically follow.

Feel what you write and transmit it. If you feel what you write is because you know your subject, and if you know your subject, it is because you have done your homework. Your homework involves research, learning about what you write, learning from other authors, and reading extensively about your subject. Use AI, but be you the one who controls it, and for this to happen, you must be yourself and use it as a guide only, not to change who you are as a writer. So, the ideas and the way you describe them must be yours. If you can achieve all the above, you will write with authority. Writing with authority about any subject is the crown in writing.

In my experience, to get to the next level of Writing ( and one must do it every 2-3 years), you have to feed your mind first. Now there are several ways of doing this. I put it into 3 large buckets. 1. Adding Life Experience. 2. Adding to existing Writing Skills. 3. Changing your Perspective on things wilfully. These have proven valuable to me over 20 years. To me no. 1 is the most helpful because if we don't seek Life Experience eg Travel, engaging with new People we will have nothing new to offer . Point 2 is a no brainer. Yes, Writing IS a skill and not just a talent. And one has to learn it in order to be productive and professional. One has to keep adding to it in order to grow. No. 3 is a Philosophical matter. It's for adding depth.

Writing gets better with practice, like exercising a muscle. Doing it regularly makes you more confident and helps when you're stuck. Try different types of writing—blogs, stories, essays—to become a versatile writer. Think of it like using different brushes for painting. Also, consider who you're writing for and why. Adapting your style for different situations makes you a better communicator. So, to be a great writer, practice a lot, try different things, and see your words improve!

Writing consistently is important, but it's just as important that you don't get stuck in a cycle of writing the same types of things over and over again. Do some cross training and write in completely different styles. Try writing fiction, dialogue, poetry, anything that takes you out of your comfort zone. When you come back to your general channel of writing, you'll have new tools at your disposal.

I write everyday. Some days I will take out my laptop and spend more time thinking than writing. That's writing too :) If it's my day off or I am on a trip, I might jot notes on my phone or scribble on a pad. I write down a lot of notes and ideas with a pen on paper. It really helps me absorb and retain those ideas and also takes time off from the screen.

Asking for feedback is so important. You can learn so much from hearing what others think. If the feedback makes sense, use it and revise. It is important not to be emotionally tied to anything specific you write. If it is not working, edit it, even if you loved it to begin with.

Always get appropriate feedback from different sorts of people. Ask them questions about ?? Quality ?? Complexity ?? Perspective ?? Simplicity You can add more range of questions and you can adapt accordingly. Does your writing lack pace? Does your writing deviate from the actual topic? Do your words seem difficult to fit in the situation and be correctly contextual? All these questions should be solved and the appropriate solutions and remedies should be well implicated.

A lot of people reach out to me for help and advice. I do that too. I find that most people have difficulty in structuring, even those who do not admit it. My experience is that the best way is to write out everything that's in your mind and look at it. Show it to others and see what they have to say. A small pool or peers can be very helpful. Those who have been writing better and for longer than I have will also reach out to me sometimes. That has been a humbling experience and helped me to reach out for feedback too.

I've grown most as a writer under the direction of talented editors. It's not always easy to accept criticism, but being open and receptive to feedback will only make your writing stronger. If you're new to professional writing, I strongly recommend hiring an editor (who ideally works in the field you aspire to write in) to review some of your work. From there, commit to implementing the changes they recommend and weaving these changes into your future projects.

Don't forget that a great piece isn't just what you think is good, so by all means, ask for feedback. Aside from asking for feedback before putting a post out there, you can make posts and ask for feedback from your readers too, that strategy works because it doesn't just prompt your readers to action, it helps you improve too.

I learn a lot by reading scientific journals that contain the latest research. I consider these readings to be able to fill my shortcomings as a self-taught journalist and writer. Reading academic research in the fields of writing and journalism helps me complement my understanding, which mostly comes from professional experience. It provides us with normative guidance and ethical matters that are often unavailable or forgotten in the newsroom. These research also helps to understand the latest trends that we often don't have time to observe in the realm of practice. Nowadays, there are many websites that provide the latest research for free. This is one thing that was not found 30 years ago when I started my career in this field.

One of the most useful resources in any writer's arsenal is a thesaurus. A thesaurus can elevate your writing from mundane to insightful, from drab to imaginative. But beware: it should be used selectively! An easy way to make your writing sound juvenile is an expanded noun-phrase with too many adjectives, or an overly-officious word in the wrong context.

Rather than generating the entire content, take help from AI. Tools like ChatGPT can help you stimulate your creativity with the right prompts and fine tune your writing.

3 things I've found useful: 1. Hemmingway Editor. I use it to quickly check the reading level of content, and flag any passive language I've missed. 2. Writer. Very comprehensive if you have a paid account. A great tool for teams to ensure only approved terms are used and company style is maintained. 3. Copy-paste writing into any word processor or text field that is not where you would usually be looking at it. Taking it out of its usual context gives me fresh eyes to see errors or better ways to phrase content.

I would summarise it in one line as, Read extensively, Write regularly, Learn open-mindedly and Break out of your Comfort Zone! There is no shortcut to it!

I suggest having a creative writing project. As writers we need to not just write for work. I say that as someone who has spent an incredible amount of time and energy writing various professional or student assignments. As much as this is important, and can be very rewarding, it's not less important to have some fun writing projects. These are closer to your heart and keep you motivated for everything else! Whether it's a blog about a topic of interest, film reviews, recipes, birdwatching notes, song lyrics or poems, or anything else, go for it! What passion do you have that you could write about? ;-)

Write the same thing for multiple media. Write a story then convert it into a video script followed by a podcast followed by a stage play followed by a social media post. As you do so focus on what aspects of your story are visual, how many are character focused and how many are specific to a medium. This will help you understand how your 'writing mind experiences stories and what you need to work on'. A good story should illicit the same degree of emotions regardless of whether it is heard, seen or read.

I imagine a person who is my target audience and I write for them - not for me. That's the critical point for any piece of writing. Write for one real person in your own, honest voice. While it's great to have an outline, I try to figure out what it is that I want that person to get from this. And when I'm at my best, I'm pretty specific about what that is. What will they be able to do when they read what you have written? Yes, we write to entertain, to some extent, but for most business writing, there's a reason that people need to read what you have written.

The best way to make writing better is READING. Read resources, listen to podcasts, connect with fellow writers (from the same industry), they can more effectively.
