I found the first one great to get a sense for what people in the room are thinking (polls, word clouds) and the second one for an element of competition and gamification. Great to keep attention and energy levels up, whilst finding out some real life insights and using them to make the presentation more personalised and tailored.

Despite all the technicity out there, it's also good to see interaction as the natural unadulterated way of exchanging eyeball to eyeball to eyeball with your audience and and asking questions to elicit response and participation. I have used Doodle videos for engagement in presentations but I have come to understand that the good old black, white or green board or just the paper board, are excellent interactive tools. The speed at which you write ideas on a board matches the attention ability of most people in the audience. It hardly distracts from the message. Better questions would come out of it.
