The selection of one direction is important but also it is important how to engage your employees during the process because it is the employees who actually conducts it.

Decision making is crucial. Not making a decision is often the worst course of action. When you decide, you set a direction and take a step towards a desired outcome. In management, your team relies on you for direction. By understanding the situation and asking the right questions, you can make informed decisions. It's important to recognize that your decisions are constrained by your current knowledge and beliefs. Nevertheless, it's essential to be confident and steadfast in your choices. Trust in your judgment. Even if a decision turns out to be incorrect, it provides a learning opportunity to understand and improve your decision-making process.

In order to improve your decision making process, you need to have some basis like knowledges about the external environment and internal environment like people, know how, process and skills to maneuver them. Knowledges and information can be gathered from various sources but you need to know where you can reach and which are relevant and reliable. Skills can be obtained through experiences and various sources like LinkedIn, MOOC, webinars, etc.

In my experience, the first step to improving your decision-making process is to not be afraid of making decisions. Fear often stems from a lack of knowledge or understanding of the challenge at hand. Asking the right questions is crucial; they provide clarity and help you understand the necessary outcome. My process includes: 1. **Assessing the situation**; 2. **Asking questions** to gain more information and clarity; 3. **Understanding the desired result** for the situation; 4. **Evaluating the options**; 5. **Choosing the best option**; 6. **Monitoring the actions** resulting from your decision to ensure you achieve the desired result.

If you're a new manager, don't get caught in the trap of trying to make all the decisions. Delegating and understanding an effective delegation framework (i.e. what should you be trusting your team or others to make decisions on), will free your time to focus on the bug decisions.

Decision making is not always perfect as you don’t always make right ones nor the environment changes. To avoid the first errors you need to make good enough evaluation and hear the voices of the others before making the decisions. For the latter, you need to monitor carefully the progress and make adjustments to meet the changes of environment. You need to spend good enough time to evaluate, monitor and adjust your decisions.

Utilizing frameworks and tools like SWOT analysis, decision matrices, and the Pareto principle can enhance decision-making by providing structure, organizing information, and evaluating options systematically. Employing these methodologies helps dissect complexities, prioritize factors, and ultimately make informed choices with greater clarity and efficiency.

Over time, consistently making effective decisions builds a reputation for being a reliable and capable manager. When your decisions lead to positive outcomes, it increases your visibility within the organization and can open up new opportunities for advancement.
