In online training, it is important to ensure that everyone stays engaged. Keeping up the interaction level can be difficult compared to in-person training. The good news is that there are different online tools such as quizzes, polls, and learning games that you can utilize to make the training even more enjoyable. Breakout rooms and encouraging participation are also useful strategies.

Try microlearning! Break down the content into short, focused lessons that can be quickly applied, allowing learners to stay engaged without feeling overwhelmed. Incorporating interactive elements like quizzes or quick discussions after each micro-lesson keeps energy high and reinforces retention.

To keep a virtual team motivated and engaged, I use interactive tools like polls, breakout rooms, and quizzes, encourage active participation with open discussions, and incorporate real-life examples. I also keep sessions concise, add moments of fun, and check in regularly with questions to maintain engagement.

I always spend some time at the beginning of any training building rapport with the participants. Icebreaker games, witty puns or jokes, etc often help continue the momentum. This, paired with asking for a show of hands, thumbs-ups, etc can be used at intervals to make sure the energy levels don't flag. A secret hack is to appreciate accomplishments by calling out the first names of the participants. This can build motivation quite effectively. Another very important factor is a break. Strategically placed, a break can revitalize the energy of the meeting and have the participants brimming with anticipation.
