The best rule and perspective whenever you are directing or leading a team...you are the least important person in the room. That mindset allows you to listen and hear everyone's voice, regardless of position or title. My employees never worked for me; I always worked for and with them.

Communicate clearly and regularly. Listen to your team, provide clear instructions, and offer feedback. Be open and approachable to address concerns and encourage open dialogue.

Be intentional with active listening. Repeat what you heard and reframe it with a question to show you understand. It also provides clarity for yourself if you didn’t understand a certain concept.

I feel that clarity is one of the most important things outside of customer service in hospitality. You should never assume that your team fully understands your directions. Sometimes going to them 1on1 to see if they have any questions regarding what you asked of them can be the biggest boost for a person because it allows them to see that you really value them and want them to do great.

It can be challenging to feel like what you say is clearly understood. What is clear to one may not be clear to someone else. I can understanding that there isn't the time for all these steps when faced with a situation requiring immediate attention but generally, the below steps have been quite helpful in my career. 1. Explain verbally. 2. Ask the person to repeat what they understood. 3. Write it in an email or a chat as a follow up. It becomes so much easier following these steps as it leaves little to no room for misunderstandings.

It is all about the required leadership skills that we all know, however and on top of all; to overview the market and the industry trends, create, implement, and monitor an effective business plan, share with all partners to check the feedback and be visible to be updated with the changes.. Executive level is a supportive level who guide others for the right directions....

I absolutely agree! We all communicate differently and adjusting our own style to others is key to ensure effective relationships and teamwork. I personally have found an activity quite helpful. Within my team I would dedicate time to the "start. stop. continue." exercise. This allowed us to share in a safe space: 1. What we can start doing to become better in our role. 2. What we should stop doing because it's not benefiting the team. 3. What we should continue doing because it has an impact or is helpful. Going around among my team to answer these questions while in a leadership role was quite beneficial. We all gained insight on areas we did well in and areas of opportunity which we could develop.

Absolutely very important, we should always tailor our way of communication. Different group of people from different walk of life, effectively communicate in different ways. There is no fixed formula like math in effective communication since every person is unique, it takes years of experience and learning process from different kind of mistakes and miss communication scenarios.

Encouraging feedback in the hospitality from the staff is fundamental! For example, the team will have an opportunity make contributions! This means the leader can learn, develop, improve the organization and witness the impact of a true diverse culture! The reason that encouraging feedback is more effective than teaching is because the classroom can connect with more than just the teacher! It cultures a positive attitude towards leaders that develop others. By learning with flexibility in the hospitality industry customer excellence is at the forefront! It may generate uncomfortable conversations and frustration with the time spent at first! However, it is the most valuable opportunity to grow! Ultimately driving a substantial team!

Actually, when we go deeper to root of the cause, there is no conflict, there is only different perception on the matter My personal approach for any "conflict" is to have a conversation/discussion in a "relax" setting to align the perception first. It is my personal practice NOT TO have a formal meeting or session in resolving any "conflict", as in most cases with formal setting it will not resolve to the root.

Having worked in the hospitality industry in my younger years, having good managers that could navigate employee conflicts were a godsend. Everyone needs to do their job efficiently, and if you can’t work as a team, that puts an huge strain on the entire staff. Managers that listened to their employees, acted on feedback quickly, gave extra training when needed, and dealt with problem employees fairly and honestly were always the best managers. They were a rarity but there were some that made a hard job a little bit easier.

I expect everyone as they supposed to find their own way as they already paid as employee and not an intern. Then I found that I'm stuck in a bare minimum and mediocre performance. My team does what exactly been told and nothing more. This changed when I started to be more open & lead my team with inspiration and example. I started to show them the bigger picture, listen to them and actively provide support. That's when the magic happened. Together, we achieved massive improvement!
