Your best friend in this situation is always clearly called out schedules and making sure to note the changes that will occur if your schedule is not met. Something like, "Please let us know your approvals or notes on the [project item] by Tuesday next week (11/12). If approvals/notes are not provided by then the project schedule will have to adjust. If you have any questions or concerns let us know as soon as possible." Be simple, be direct, and make sure there can be no confusion after the fact. This makes sure your needs are communicated and the consequences of missing dates are clearly defined. Setting expectations are key, and while this doesn't solve every issue. It will help you if things go sideways.
