If I sit in a job interview, the company probably already thinks that I have the right expertise for the job. So why should I persuade them of my expertise? In my experience, in most jobs it is more important to have a good team that you can trust and are comfortable with than some specific skills. So I would be honest and tell them if I feel comfortable in their company or not. And if they feel comfortable working with me as well, that's a perfect match.

Too often, in resumes and in interviews, we think we must share everything about ourselves. That's a mistake, IMHO. Instead, remembering that the resume reader and the interviewer is looking at/speaking with many candidates, focus our resumes and interview responses on 1) What do we want them to understand about us?; 2) What do we want them to remember about us; and 3) What do we want them to repeat about us (Because nearly everyone who interviews us, whether an HR person/hiring manager, or senior executive doing the hiring) will be asked about us. The more focused you are, the more they'll understand, remembers, and repeat about you.
