You're in a job interview. How do you answer the question "Why do you want to work here?

This is a softball question. And if you don’t nail it, you’re just being lazy. Love you but it’s true. Every company has a culture page. An “about us” page. If you haven’t bothered to read it, what are you even doing interviewing? It’s not quantum physics. Do the bare….bare…minimum. Come on you guys. *Lovingly slaps you through the computer screen. You got this (and if you don’t don’t you dare mention my name- shame to your entire family ??).

Unless the company you're interviewing at is a leader in your field of work or will greatly add to your expertise, answer with whatever reply is available on Google. And then, if all questions are as shallow as this one, look for a job elsewhere.

I am always amazed at the lack of research on behalf of a candidate. Don't take the interview if you have not done your homework!

This is a terrible question. So if someone applies to AIG should they wax poetic about their passion for the insurance industry? Money and exposure to new tools and experiences should be perfectly justifiable answers to this question.

Do your homework. Learn about the company and its mission statement and values. If they resonate with you, make sure to bring them up in the interview and learn and be curious about them and how they line up with the Interviewers. Remember, interviewing is a two way street - you are interviewing the company and its culture, as much as they are interviewing you.

"I'm glad you asked. Ever since I was about 18, I've been super passionate about not being homeless and being able to eat. Paychecks - such as those from your company - are a big part of that dream."

If you’re going into an interview without feeling enthusiastic or positive. Cancel the interview. You’ll be wasting your time.

Your answer should be genuine and reflect your true motivations for wanting to work at the company. Avoid generic or insincere responses. I've been following the company's work in [specific area related to the company's industry or products] and am impressed by its dedication to [specific value or goal of the company, such as sustainability or customer satisfaction]. Do your search find out what company is doing and demonstrate how you're going to be good fit with your experience and learning capabilities with the vision of the company and that's all.

Criticism of the company or comparing it with others is off the table, ensuring a positive tone. Honesty will prevail, steering clear of exaggeration about my skills or experience.

Be sincere by explaining your motivation. If you want to join a company only for the remuneration, this opportunity is not a good one. Be positive, and don’t criticize your company. By doing that, you will share a negative image. Don’t share confidential information during your interview. No company wants to hire someone who is revealing confidential information.

Instead, Write a few bullet points of things that stood out to you when doing step 1. Then When you are answering the question, you can be sure to cover off each of the reasons you want to work their, alongside a brief note of what appealed to you during your research. Again, Returning to step 1: applying your research to an actual question will help here. and for future answers.

You need the company and the company needs you. you must satisfy the employer needs and the employer must satisfy your needs. Start by defining your needs and target companies that satisfy your needs. Having the right answers on a job intreview may get you hired, but this may be short selling your self to discover, shortly thereafter, that you are not satisfied. Your self satisfaction and satisfy the company needs.

It's such a lazy question. Every company states their culture and values somewhere on their website. And guess what?! They pretty much all say the same. How many of them say "We're an avaricious sweat-box where we'll work you until you drop in a misogynistic culture of fear"? None, right? As an interviewer, I'd much rather ask someone what values they're looking for in an employer, and how their experience of us to date matches up to that. Far more meaningful.

I would answer it with a question.. 'Why do you think people should want to work here?' Let them tell you the reasons and see how that correlates with your own research.

"Why do you want to work here?" In order to answer that question, you have to do some research on the business - understand what they do, where they stand in the market, their ethos/goals/strategy. You would then talk about the company specifically with anything interesting you have found about them, show your passion for the business and combine this with talking about the role you are interviewing for. Try to avoid talking about their benefits, hours etc - benefits are awesome but it is better to talk about the mission of the business and the role with lots of passion!

This questions is basically to understand how confident you are and how good you are with thinking on your feet. What needs to consider is, research about the company before going to an interview. If you are in rush and could not do it, look up on your cell or observe your environment when you walk in for the interview. most of the companies will have their values and business expertise painted on their wall or on the display. Show clear sign of you want to grow, and one can only grow if the organization is growing at the same time.
