When you research a company it’s not just if You are a right fit for them, it’s about if the company is a right fit for YOU. How is the employee culture, do employees resign too frequently, do they prioritize learning and development of employees?? How is the company looking to grow in the next 5 to 10 years and how do you see yourself grow in the next 2 to 5 years. And if their goals match yours, start working on customizing your resume and cover letter and show them WHY YOU and WHY THEM This is how you stand out

To gain an edge in your search think about "owning your role on the team" in the interview process. For example, "I have clarity on the immediate value I can bring to this team with my skills in X,Y, and Z." After all, the candidate who convinces the team they are the one who adds the value gets the offer every time. So why not own the power of your words?

Thirty-five years as a Chicago Headhunter in technology and financial trading. This is for folks with experience. If you put a skill on your resume you will get chased you down a rabbit hole on the skill with which you have the least experience. Less is often more. Don't lie or exaggerate. Your resume has one purpose beyond all others, that is, to get read. Don't put the name of your school or company in a large font and bold. What should be highlighted when possible are any of these words followed by a metric: Earned, Saved, Increased, Decreased. If any of those appears highlighted, that is what will get read first. Rehearse, rehearse some more, then go and rehearse with a more critical person. those who hate objectives. Good luck.

Personal branding is so critical in the job search process, and that extends not only into LinkedIn (and other social platforms), but also into your Resume, Cover Letter, Networking efforts, and Interviewing. I spoke with a CMO recently about personal branding and she said, "I walk around and my personal brand is shouting who I am - attracting the people I want to work with and those who want to do business with me." The key is being consistent and intentional about it so your Personal Brand tells the story you WANT it to.

The most important selection criterion for companies and recruiters searching for candidates is EXPERIENCE. On a LinkedIn profile, the way to show experience is to mention experience keywords in the "About" section and in EVERY job, in the "Experience" section, where the skill was used. The omission of keywords is the number one reason candidates are overlooked, and why they rank low on a recruiters call list. This is 100% under the candidate's control!

Y además sabes replicarlo. Esto es lo que te da la mayor ventaja competitiva sobre los demás candidatos.

How I started my business was to develop the habit of paying a little extra attention to everyone I met and worked with. While I am not naturally a people person, this was enough to help gain a few key clients which got me off the ground. This same habit can also lead to referrals to new positions.

The reason we network is for us to learn how to work our net! To use a fishing metaphor the wider the net the larger the catch. Building a network gives us greater access to opportunities and platforms that we normally wouldn't get using the regular fishing pole method.

Instead of focusing solely on expanding your contact list, prioritize establishing genuine connections with individuals in your industry. Engage in conversations, actively listen to others, and seek opportunities to provide value and support. Building strong relationships through networking enables you to foster trust, collaboration, and mutual understanding. These connections can be invaluable for career growth, providing opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and professional development. Therefore, invest time and effort in nurturing genuine relationships to unlock the full potential of networking.

Research your interviewers so you can weave in things you’ve learned throughout conversation. This will show that you’ve done your research, care, and have an interest in the team. People naturally lean towards talking about themselves and things they love. If you see someone is an avid t-ball coach, use baseball analogies that are relatable. If they’ve written a paper or article, read it and ask them about it at the end. Going the extra mile helps!

The major criterion used by employers for selecting candidates is EXPERIENCE. As in Question 2 above, this is done by the proper use of experience keywords and explanations in LinkedIn profiles and resumes. If someone has failed to grasp the importance of defining their experience properly, in their resume and LinkedIn profile, they will not be properly prepared to talk about it in an interview.

Prepare in detail and tell them when you sit down before they start… “Thank you so much for inviting me to interview. As part of my preparation, I [include what you did] and I would to hear your thoughts on my findings/thoughts.” Those things may be analyzing their social media strategy, listening to their earnings calls, or the most recent interviews with executives. And suggestions based on that. That will make you stand out far above anyone who has similar accomplishments on their resume.

Come with engaging, intelligent questions. They will prove that you put effort into preparing. Some I've used.. What does success look like in this role one year from now? What are my key KPIs that define that success? What are the most impactful actions I can take within this role to maximize benefits to your company and my future co-workers?

Si bien es cierto que como profesional, tendrás los conocimientos y experticia, eso no significa que es lo absoluto, es muy importante estar a la vanguardia de las nuevas tendencias del sector, de la economía, de area en que se encuentre. Hoy existen muchos medios para participar de cursos, webinars, congresos, etc.

As the saying goes stay ready so that you won't have to get ready, holds true when it comes to continuing education and upskilling. The opportunity marketplace is always evolving always changing. If you stop learning if you stop improving if you stop upgrading upskilling you are placing yourself in a position of weakness so that when the opportunity in the marketplace changes you're not ready to provide the skill sets that that market is demanding. You will then find yourself unprepared and thus scrambling to catch up with the market when you could have been ready.

Here's the shocker- Companies hire EXPERIENCE. Just because you know you can do it, does not mean they will assume. You have to be strategic and tactical here. Show them how you did it. Talk about your great achievements that match the experience they need in the resume, your LinkedIn profile and in the interview. If you don't proactively show them you are the best candidate- how are they ever to know?

En publicaciones, en mensajes, y haz un seguimiento constante 6. Sé paciente. Repite con el resto de empresas que te interesan Fuerza y valor!

If there is a space on a form for desired salary, leave it blank, if they want you they will tell you what they offer. 3.First person to say a number loses the negotiation. (generally) 4. If you rate yourself a 9 or a 10 on a skill, tell them you are a 71/2 to 8. If you say you are a 9 and they see a 83/4, no offer. Say you are a 71/2 and they see you as a 72/3, same company, same job, same manager, you will get an offer, all other things being equal. Just ridiculous. To reiterate, find out what you can about the decision maker ask them 1 question about what their interest or passion is, be fascinated. Fake sincerity realistically.

Will you still be able to enjoy these things or will schedules or workplace culture interfere with them? Your happiness is dependent upon it.
