Based on experience, to kick start your cyber journey, understand the rudiments, what is cybersecurity all about, the security triad (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability), this will show the need for cybersecurity, from there you can build up to its application(s) with respect to people, processes and technology. I personally suggest first a basic free course, then go on to study for an entry cert such as the COMPTIA Security+. I wish all cyber newbies all the success they need.

To get started in Cybersecurity, you've got to have interest and discipline. Mastering the practice demands patience, attention to details and a mind willing to keep learning. There are so many places to start. Start with learning fundamentals, and then build from there.

An in-depth understanding on how systems are built, tech stacks, applications, server stacks, client stacks, how they interact with each other- communication systems, endpoints, is very useful.

Embarking on a cybersecurity learning journey requires a foundational understanding of the landscape. Before you grapple with the intricacies of cybersecurity technologies and strategies, it’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the basics. This includes understanding the common types of cyber threats that individuals and organizations face. Phishing attacks aim to deceive you into disclosing personal information; ransomware locks access to your data until a ransom is paid; and denial-of-service attacks overwhelm systems to disrupt services. These are just the tip of the iceberg.

As counter intuitive as that might seem, Do not dove straight into cyber without mastering other stuff from general IT knowledge first. Building the foundation's slowly but surely will help in the log run. Try different stuff at first before diving into cyber. Then take a top down approach and see different stuff that you feel click with you in the field.

Now that you've got some wins under your belt, it's time to show the world what you're made of. Build a portfolio showcasing your projects, your skills, and your personality. Think of it as your digital resume, ready to impress potential employers and collaborators.
