Being DB engineer is not just about knowing SQLs, joins and complex queries. In present day, where is DB is pushing its boundaries(with various NoSQL DBs), it is also important to know - how the data will be retrieved and for what(use case/business case) - what will be the rate of ingestion / retrieval - what will be the usage heat map from within the DB storage - best practises to make database resilient and highly available(based on choice of DB) and trade-offs on these approaches. - last but not least, a strong Operating system and network awareness to foresee and/or debug strange issues
