Structural engineering (and engineering in general) is a profession based on effective collaboration with various stakeholders. During your every day work you will find that communication is a key skill you need to cultivate to become successful at what you do. That said, if I could choose the people I would work with, one of my primary parameters for consideration would be how easy working with them would feel. If collaboration came naturally then I think they would be a great fit. If on the other hand communication was not one of their strong skills, even if they were technically sound, they would not be my first choice.
