I cannot emphasize how this resonates with me. I am currently working as a geologist and a team lead for the Nigerian team under the SEG EVOLVE ENERGY EXPLORATION PROGRAM - a 6-month mentor-guided internship. One thing that guides my learning journey in the role is setting realistic goals. I had to choose what I wanted to gain out of the internship. These goals have to be SMART: S- Specific - you can't be the jack of all trades M- Measurable - it should be something you can evaluate A - Achievable - it should be goals that can be achieved with the timeframe of the program. R - Realistic - your dreams have to be ground truth with reality T - Time-bound. They can be daily goals, weekly, monthly goals and the overall goal for the program.

You have an opportunity to learn. - It carries the load of remembering so you don't a have to rely in your memory or note book.

Remember during internship the little things matters , people pay attention on what you are doing .

Jim Rohn famously said, 'Your network is your net worth.' This means the connections you cultivate directly impact your success. During my husband's 2-week university work placement, he was given the opportunity to meet with all of the senior people within the business and attend a conference. As luck would have it, he happened to arrive at the conference the same time as the CEO of the business who invited him to sit at his table. These connections regularly engage with his LinkedIn posts, and obviously he reciprocates. Networking, a prime indirect benefit of internships, and is a skill worth investing time in learning more about.
