Banner accessories: If you're using banners to promote your presentation, you can use accessories and interchangeable elements to make it more eye-catching.

In my experience, a whiteboard represents a big vision board where the idea or topic you are discussing with your audience can be visualized even without writing it out just yet! It helps you visualize the idea with your audience in several ways including not limited to words, sketches, doodles etc. It helps also build upon your thoughts where the audience does not only follow you but are engaged seriously with you while you progress.

In every presentation, certain accessories are key, and whiteboards often top this list, especially in technical presentations where visual tools are vital. Whiteboards, with their dynamic visual aid capability, simplify the explanation of complex topics. Firstly, consider using interactive presentation software or tools to display your content dynamically & captivate your audience. Additionally, utilizing a high-quality projector and screen setup will ensure that your visuals are clear and impactful. Incorporating a wireless presentation remote with advanced features like slide navigation or a laser pointer can enhance your delivery. For me pointer its just nice to have, why? Because good presentation its not about the screen, its about how you can have the story in line with your screen. So the audience know which part that you are talking about.

Use the pointer to point. Not to 'draw' the whole time. If it is clear for you, it isn't automatically clear for the audience.

There is just something about a microphone that screams “authority” ?? When you’re in a room filled with people, all attention moves to the one with a microphone in the hand or around their ear. A microphone automatically makes you stand out. It commands focus and respect from the rest of the audience. And without a microphone, your impactful message can vanish into thin air without achieving its intended aim.

Clarity. Authority. Professionalism. That’s what a good microphone brings to the table. Don’t compromise on its quality, and make sure the speakers are attached properly

When speaking in public your volume is about presence as much as Audibility. So a microphone, if used well, can help ensure you have adequate volume to project authority and gravitas. I always use a timer - most of the time my phone or occasionally borrowed a physical one from organisers. It shows how seriously I treat my attendees' time. Moreover if I do run beyond the time limit - it serves as a humour point :)

One thing I find very useful in delivering a presentation aside of a presentation, a prop or even a mic.. is an organised mind along with a storytelling approach, taking the audience from where they are to where you want to take them in an interesting journey of learning and activities (if possible). Keeping in mind your tone of voice, your body language, the eye contact and believing in the destination.

Having a single impactful element in your presentation, like a rubber yellow squeaky duck, creates lasting memories. I recall professors using such props, captivating attention and making complex topics more understandable. The ability to evoke those moments is rewarding; it makes you a part of their journey and sets you apart. It could be an object, clothing, or even a name like "Anastasio." I use it with my team, turning it into a relatable character for shared experiences and learning opportunities, fostering teamwork. It is funny that when I tell the team certain things that can happen but haven’t, they come back with “that sounds like Anastasio”. This helps creating such memorable touchpoints is invaluable in making your message stick.

Choose a prop that aligns with your message. For example, if discussing growth, use a plant; if emphasizing teamwork, use a puzzle piece. the most important thing is to have a good story to tell and you need to train your talk or presentation. i saw many great storylines fail cause the people didn’t train in advance and thought they will be fine. its even worse if you present with other people and haven’t aligned your parts upfront. again training helps to align.

A well planned slide deck is a key for an impactful presentation. Slides that are Simple, good layout, not clumsy and with a logical sequence.

In my opinion, YOU are the presentation...and most important focus must be on YOUR preparation as a presenter...in terms of story telling , engagement, anecdotes that resonate the context...all this can be practiced to perfect ( like the TED talks ) and the other thing that one must be equally mindful about is the audience - their interest, their mood , the energy in the room and a good Presenter is always ready with a Plan B...to ensure that the audience is thoroughly engaged .

A neat trick when you’re presenting to a large audience as part of an event is find a few things from earlier presentations, or things later on the agenda and relate them to your content. E.g “George mentioned a few hours ago that…” I find it really helps to contextualise your content and takes you to the next level
