I have been working as a 'freelancer' for over 20yrs. I have worked in every industry apart from the Water Industry. Most places I worked I get approached to give up 'freelancing' and to join that company. Personally the 5 items mentioned here are mostly wrong! There is the odd occasion where you get an offer due to your 'network'. Most of the time (95%) its down to the recruitment agencies and a good CV. My advice is to build a strong CV and get your CV out there on all the job websites for agencies to find. Be a nice and genuine person to the agency staff, they will more likely put you in front of clients. Not everyone likes agencies but they are the gatekeepers to a successful freelance career.
