Feeling overwhelmed is a cue to reset, not push harder. Prioritizing well-being in chaos is about setting boundaries and small, actionable goals. I worked with a client to use the Three-Minute Pause: three moments daily to breathe, reflect, and realign. This helped her tackle projects with more clarity, reduced her stress, and brought a sense of control. I want to reiterate here that well-being doesn’t require drastic changes—just consistent, mindful moments in your day.

The answer is in the question. Yes - you need to prioritize your well-being - that means you must have the recognition that your own wellbeing is always more important than whatever work demands there may be; and to have the intention to stay in a zone of well-being, peace and joy. Only then, are you likely to let to of what is not so important, or better delegate, or shift into a state of clarity, seek help with your workload, creates appropriate boundaries. You may need to look deeply at your dynamics - e.g. are you a people pleaser, are you a perfectionist? You may even need to change jobs! Giving yourself the gift of well-being and freeing yourself from the tyranny of overwork means getting a life!

Start by reflecting on your core "why"—knowing your purpose helps clarify what truly deserves your time. For instance, inspired by Greg McKeown’s Essentialism, focus on identifying what brings the most value and letting go of what doesn’t. Take time to pause and analyze your workload: are there tasks you can delegate or simply say no to? Schedule regular check-ins with yourself, similar to how you would review progress with a team, to reflect on stress triggers and adjust priorities. Clear communication with colleagues about boundaries can also create a healthier, more transparent workflow.

When work overwhelms me, I remind myself that feeling this way is okay. It's a symptom that I have served myself more than I can chew. I acknowledge my emotions without judgment and write a brain dump to clear my mind and prioritize the work. Taking a moment to pause and breathe profoundly brings me back to the centre. Setting gentle boundaries helps me balance work and life, and I avoid compromising quality sleep, stretching and meals—vital for my well-being. I break tasks into smaller steps & celebrate to boost my motivation. I connect with myself & "me time" energises me. Like a short walk or catching up a few minutes on my favourite TV show. I also train my clients in these habits, and the results are always powerful & amazing
