To carry the pax from A to B on a given date and time is the fundamental promise an airline makes, and if there's a deviation from that (such as this case of long delays) the first thing to do is to communicate the reason and expected resolution to all the affected pax immediately. Once that is done and if the airline itself is unable to operate the flight within a reasonable period of time, it should offer alternative solutions including, but not limited to, flights on alternate carriers (as typically done through exchange of FIMs) or if that's not possible, offer a full refund. The essence is on the quality and timeliness of communication and resolution.

1. Stay calm – Take deep breaths and remain composed. 2. Stay informed – Check with the airline for updates or alternatives. 3. Explore options – Look into rebooking, refunds, or different routes. 4. Utilize time – Read, listen to music, or watch something to relax. 5. Stay comfortable – Keep snacks, water, and chargers available. 6. Plan ahead – Prepare for possible delays by carrying essentials.

It depends on the scenario, which airport are you stranded on (whether is the airline’s hub, or an outstation) and which airline are you flying on (a major one or not). 1. Keep the airline app updated and check for updates. Some apps actually let you rebook yourself (Like United’s) 2. Let the airline staff work and keep calm. Be kind to them, they are also under pressure. 3. If you feel too much time has passed approach the info center, call center and ask for options to rebook you. Most airlines are reasonable, when is in their control and offer lodging, food, etc. 4. Take deep breath, enjoy the lounges and reasonably review the options. 5. Call home and advise the change of plans. Try to be objective, reasonable and flexible.
