It can be few: On time delivery, Customer ratings, Revenue targets of XMn$, Inventory turns, Warehouse Operational Efficiency,etc. Assess each factor by studying the processes behind it. For instance, to identify the bottlenecks behind Warehouse Op. Efficiency, we can asses Picking Efficiency, Staging, Loading, Inbound, Machinery Efficiency, C:D ratio, Low manpower, Manual biased decisions, Fragmented Data sources, etc. Dig deeper into each and identify the root cause behind same.

Over reliance on tools and technology data is one of the causes I have seen in recent times. Supply chain professionals through years of experience can rightfully assess key bottlenecks, predict issues and plan for contingencies. The saying 'old is gold' is still valid and planner's intution is an important aspect. At the same time tools/technologies help with data collection and helping the human factor in the equation with accurate predictions and should not be used to replace that human factor.
