STL is one of the few techs from the 80′s that are still in place today. Stop that! While it works, STL brings a lot of issues on scale, precision and a complete lack of any relevat data. Formats like AMF or 3MF are modern and suitable for interoperability between every CAD and CAM software for 3D printing. Prefer to use those and you′re good!

I primarily use SketchUp and Revit, as most of my clients also use Revit. However, I often encounter projects where clients use more demanding software like Rhino, which tends to lack flexibility during file transfers. When importing these files into SketchUp, individual elements are often separated, making it difficult to print parts of the model seamlessly. In these cases, I advise clients to use more compatible software or adjust the model in a program I’m familiar with. I prioritize using software that integrates well with slicing programs and regularly convert files to STL format, as it offers the best compatibility with the slicing software. This process helps minimize errors, and ensure smooth, high-quality print.
