You're facing resistance from stakeholders in process design. How can you effectively engage with them?

As per my uderstanding different companies of the world design philsophies are guided by: 1.Compliance to local regulations. 2.Brownfield vs Green Field Designs 3.Thoroughness of calculations Including dynamic and proces control to remove overconservatism. 4.ALARP application for MAH for Risk Assessments 5. Each case can be worked out by good and experienced consultants and not following copycat softwares.

To earn the trust of a client resistant to change in their organizational culture: 1. Listen actively and empathetically to their concerns. 2. Demonstrate expertise with successful change management examples. 3. Collaborate on a customized plan aligned with their goals. 4. Be transparent, consistent, and communicate openly throughout the process.

Según mi experiencia, en primer lugar organizaría un encuentro didáctico donde participen todas involucradas, mostraría como funciona una organización SIN procesos definidos VS. una organización CON procesos dise?ados y definidos. Puntualmente les mostraría los resultados del procesos y su interelacion. Luego trabajaría de forma independiente en cada sector para que puedan definir lo que ellos entienden que es SU proceso. Terminada esta etapa designaría un represente para hacer un nuevo encuentro y así poder escuchar su feedback del 1er encuentro. Considero que concientizar de que metodologías normalizadas mejoran la eficiencia de toda la organización. La resistencia al cambio ES difícil de romper, es el obstáculo mas difícil pasar.

It is important to understand the needs of stakeholders in order to propose strategies that are aligned with the collective objectives, it is important to leave the pros and cons on the table so that all stakeholders are aware of the progress or delays that may occur.

Stakeholder resistance is usually a result of poor communication, leading to assumptions. The best way to get beyond that is to sit with all people involved and have a clear discussion about expectations of the company and the proposed changes. Resistance is generally related to miss alignment of business requirements to proposed solutions. Either the business requirements have not been documented well or not understood well. This will cause resistance from the stakeholders as the proposed solution will most likely not solve the problem for which it has been designed. Working with the stakeholders to properly define the problem will show the business that they are not just another check in a box, but that you a) care enough about the problem to document it well and b) want to involve them in the solution as they will be required to adhere to the newly developed process.

It's necessary to involve all levels of stakeholders, including the people on the floor doing the job, to fully improve and reduce costs. We have witnessed too many new processes that were not aligned with reality, thus failing to meet the expectations set by higher management.

To overcome stakeholder resistance, identify and empower supportive advocates. Their positive influence can sway others and foster a more receptive environment for process design changes
