Not everyone is right for your show. You should lean into those who do not like it because it allows the people who do to see how you handle bad reviews or negative comments. I recommend three steps. 1. Tell them you heard their comment. "Thank you for your comment. Not everyone likes our show or how it is formatted. Thank you for taking the time to share." 2. Engage with the other posts that are favorable, right after you post that comment. 3. Let it go!!!! If you are for everyone, you can be for the right ones.

I see feedback (negative or positive) as a blessing to my creative process. The best way to move forward is a simple 3 step framework I call Acknowledge, Assess, and Adjust. 1. Acknowledge the feedback and let your listeners know they are heard and appreciated. The worst thing a host could experience is constant crickets, so if you're getting feedback, it means you're doing something right. 2. Assess the situation. Poll your listeners. Figure out what changed on your end (if anything.) Go back to your why, your goals, and show focus. It's crucial to be open and honest with yourself. 3. Adjust. Make changes where necessary. And in the event, your format is what you think fits your vision the best, accept that not everyone will get it.

Here’s how I’ll handle it: 1?? Listen & Acknowledge – Instead of getting defensive, understand where the criticism is coming from. Respond with appreciation for their feedback. 2?? Identify Patterns – One comment is an opinion, multiple similar ones could indicate a real issue. If several listeners mention the same pain point, it’s worth evaluating. 3?? Engage & Adapt (If Needed) – If the feedback aligns with your goals, consider small tweaks. But if it’s just personal preference, stay true to your vision while addressing concerns. 4?? Turn Critics into Advocates – A well-handled response can impress even dissatisfied listeners. Ask for more input, show you care, and they might become loyal fans.
