You're facing criticism on your photography style. How can you stay true to your vision?

I'd say its incredibly important to listen to your client and their vision, on the flip side, a client will typically hire you for your style so its important to listen to their needs within your scope. Maintain your personal style through your own projects that you can then share to future prospects.

Generally I do not give a damn about criticism when it comes for anyone except the Client. Since I consult everything with Clients during photoshoot it is impossible that something goes wrong. Criticism from someone else is like unwanted advice. Usually such people just envy. Do not waste time on them.

One thing I have found in my decade long photography journey is that my personal person passion projects is reserved for my personal style and experiments. When dealing with clients and the vision of others, it’s important that quality, purpose and the client’s vision is forefront and major priorities. This means listening actively to their needs, adapting to their likes and adjusting accordingly. This has helped me become a rounded photographer preparing content for a wide range of clients from family and personal portraits to child photography, photo journalism for corporate and state all the way to real estate photography.

Listen, think who is saying what, sleep on it (if you have time) and remember what was said going forward. Keep your confidence but don't be afraid to take onboard what was said, they might be right.

The truth is the best work comes from collaboration and establishing a mutual understanding with your clients, but at the end of the day your job is to bring their vision to life. Individual style can be reserved for your own creative passion projects - when it comes to an outside job their opinions/criticisms matter and are a priority. It's not personal, it's just good business.

Dans la photographie, chacun peut créer son propre style ou avoir un style qui le distingue des autres , dans ce cas là, il faut le faire avec conviction , si vous recevez des critiques à propos de votre style de photographie, en paysage , narration, portrait, etc .. faites le avec une confiance en soi et soyez confiant de votre propre style , vous pouvez tout de même être réceptif aux critiques mais cela ne doit pas influencer votre style de photographie, il se peut même que sur les réseaux sociaux vous avez une bonne partie de votre publique qui apprécie ce style que vous évoquez sur vos photos , soyez en fidèle.

There are two people you do your work for: - For a Client who pays money. - For yourself. there are no other interested parties. Satisfy Client - never waste time for unsolicited advice. They are just frustrated people who "always know better".

Es muy importante escuchar como nos perciben los demás, muchas veces el mayor error es no aceptar nuestros propios defectos.

Never please people. NEVER. Work on your skills and improve but only to deliver good work for people who pay! All others are time wasters. Never spend time to discuss anything with people who do not pay you money. It leads nowhere.

One thing I found useful is to be consistent with your style - it should be evident on your portfolio whether it's your website or social pages. If client still have negative feedback regarding a creative difference then you can refer them to your portfolio and remind them that they book you full knowing your style and that you output work consistent with your brand.

The quality of your work and its resilience in a competitive market, whilst retaining your unique style will rely on adequate research in a diverse market and ensuring you adapt to technological changes.

Photographers are lone gunslingers. They seldom share same space. It is like Wild West. They respect each other but avoid same space. Individuality is a part of image creation package. Be recognizable. You do not need anyone to tell you that you are good! it is good for novice amateurs who seek acceptation.
