If consensus isn't reached, consider a compromise that incorporates the best ideas. As a leader, make a decisive call when necessary and clearly explain your reasoning. Monitor the results and remain open to adjustments. This approach resolves conflicts and strengthens team cohesion and trust.

From my experience in coaching over 200 startups, I can see the ones successful are those that give space for their teams' opinion. Depending on the size of your team, I recommend scheduling once per month a specific meeting where you all brainstorm on one topic that the team has been struggling with. Listen to every opinion carefully and note it down without judging. Make sure everyone feels heard and appreciated. At the same time, it's crucial to point out that a decision will be made by the leadership team considering all those opinions. When announcing the decision, bring your team together and explain the reasoning and vision moving forward.

When there are opposite opinions and conflict, it's crucial to check if you are dealing with a "how we get things done -conflict" or a "why are we doing what we are doing-conflict". If everyone is clear on the "why", the "how" should be easier to solve. Prioritize goals in order to keep the eye on the important things and if you have "how"-conflicts then put down the different strategies and timebox for how long you try which ideas.

Decision-making is called a skill for a reason. Not only taking a decision but also moving through uncertainty with your decision trusting that it was the right one. Once you start second-guessing, you will start letting in ideas from outside and stop doing your own thing. Make sure you have a clear understanding of the "why" of your decisions, this way you have it easier to implement and follow-through. Set timeframes in which you expect results from your decisions and follow-up after the time passed. Reflect on your learnings and take time for redirection if needed.
