We can prevent tension arising out of conflicting career paths within our family by keeping an accommodative and receptive approach. We should put ourselves in the shoes of other family members to appreciate their career goals and schedules. With a non judgemental attitude, we may discuss family responsibilities to fine tune our roles and and accordingly judiciously use available time. In context of Indian Subcontinent, we should dispense with any tinge of patriarchy and the belief that women should primarily raise family. Traditional family roles should be modified to fulfill the professional yearnings of members. An ambience of catholicity and reciprocity may be created to stem any discord and to promote and realise members' ambitions.

As a wife, I don't subscribe to "Happy Wife, Happy Life"...but I do resonate with "Happy Spouse, Happy House".. Identifying the reasons there is tension is key.. Is it time away from home? Is it the hours? Is it rooted in how your partner is being treated? Everything can be discussed ...but there has to be an area of clarification of the root cause of the tension before preventing it. If taking the role only brings additional money, but all hell breaks loose from saying yes.. it may not be the right fit for your happy house. Be open minded, hear the reason, add a mediator in the mix, and meditate/pray on the best option for you.

Showing commitment to your chosen path helps others understand its value. Highlight Career Viability: Research and present potential growth & fulfillment your chosen career can offer.
