Been there and it caused quite a stir...Utterly agree with Karla, peer mentoring is very effective. Mentor feels empowered whereas mentee is supposed to feel more empathy with a peer. Besides, it encourages collaboration and teamwork. Brought to my field as an English teacher, I thought it'd work and tension would decrease, but unfortunately the gap in level was significant and eventually we had to split them up. That's why initial assessment is so important!
