When you’re asked to give a presentation, always ask these 2 questions back first. 1. Why? How is this presentation/information adding value to the lives of the listeners? 2. Why me? The answer to this question will give you an idea of what angle to choose. You must have been chosen for a reason. Maybe you have expertise in an area that touches this one? Maybe it’s your status, your unique perspective, your ability to connect or share a message? If both answers are unsatisfactory, you may want to consider declining the offer. If you don’t feel that you have value to add, there’s no way you will.

Start with listening to what others say about the topic. Then try to narrate a story around the topic. Ask some questions to the audience in between to collect more information and to make them feel engaged. Maintain confidence body language throughout. Share your ideas , your perspective about topic give atleast 3 idea cum information about topic according to your knowledge. Never feel ashamed sharing your views.

When presenting on an unfamiliar topic, I focus on thorough preparation to build confidence and authority. Researching the subject in depth allows me to understand the key concepts and anticipate questions. I also structure my presentation clearly, starting with simple, digestible points before diving into more complex details. To have confidence, I practice delivery, paying attention to body language, tone, and pacing. Finally, I embrace persuasive speaking techniques, like using strong opening statements and supporting ideas with credible data, which helps me establish authority even when the topic is new to me.

First, ask yourself: Are you sure you want to take on this talk? If the topic is completely outside your expertise, be brave enough to say no. However, if it aligns with your line of work, reach out to the organizers or the person who invited you for more information. Engage with them and ask about the audience; understanding who you’re speaking to can guide your preparation. Do thorough research to familiarize yourself with the topic, and remember, even if you’re uncertain, this creative journey can be a great learning opportunity. If you choose to go for it, embrace the challenge!
