At some point your network is bigger than you can ‘schedule regular check ins’ with, but tools like LinkedIn do allow you to stay as connected and aware somewhat of what at least those in your network using it, have been doing. Other than that a lot of proactive engagement with a healthy level of ‘trust’ and faith in serendipity & fate, can help you drive your connection points and interactions. Building a network at least somewhat towards a niche, Industry and especially location/community can help.

It's beneficial to schedule reminders for any pending tasks or follow ups that arise during these conversations as this can help prevent deadlines and ensure that important matters are revisited when needed. For discussions that hold value or have time aspects attached to them; it's wise to address them as early, as possible and promptly follow up on any necessary actions thereafter. By managing critical conversations and taking timely steps towards addressing key points raised within them; you can avoid overlooking vital details and ensure that all essential topics are given due attention.

Host 'Exchange Circles'- invite new & existing connections to a networking event or informal discussion group with a specific theme. This creates opportunities for new & existing connections to connect & learn about each other in a fresh context. e.g. a virtual coffee chat on legal innovation or cross-cultural business strategies. After short intros each person shares 1 challenge & 1 offer to help others. Another idea is to set up a collaborative mini-project or learning group. Invite new & existing contacts for their unique expertise to nurture wider connections. e.g. start a corporate governance or legal risk white paper or webinar series for seasoned & new contacts to contribute. You become the connector of ideas & people: win/win

Expanding your network is like spinning plates—you’re excited about the new ones but can’t let the old ones fall. Balancing it all means sending those 'How’ve you been?' messages to long-time contacts just before you hit 'Great to connect!' with the newcomers. It's a delicate dance of juggling relationships, hoping nobody feels like they’ve been left gathering dust on the shelf!

Connection and relationship building is important in business. When you meet new business connections arrange a 121 with those you connect with. If you are a serial networker block time in your diary to do them only on certain days and times. Add them onto a CRM so you can keep track of who they are, what they do and the good connections they are looking for. Bringing both new and existing connections into joint projects or partnerships fosters deeper relationships and expands your influence Ask permission to put them on an email list or social media account where you are most active so you can continue to nurture them.
