To manage your workload effectively, prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance. Start by listing all your responsibilities, including lesson planning, grading, and administrative duties. Identify which tasks have immediate deadlines or significant impacts on student progress. Use a priority matrix or to-do list to organize these tasks, focusing first on those that are critical. For example, grading assignments with upcoming deadlines should take precedence over less urgent tasks. I schedule my days in advance allowing for urgent items (things will get worse if you don't handle them in the next 4 hours). I schedule 30 mins at 9 am, 1 pm and 5pm checks for things that should be handled ASAP; Then sub-urgent and planned tasks. I assume that time is 50% usable, a 4 hour segment can accommodate 2 hours of real work. exercise, fresh air, and puzzles are transition activities to clean my brain of the last task. Then onward. do not put off today what you cannot put off next week. anticipate crises and therefore rarely leave anything on my desk that can be solved in less than 30 minutes. Big tasks I schedule day/week in advance; tell people I'm unavailable. Set goals! (1000 words today, force yourself to exceed!)

Dropbox, is another application that allows cloud storage and can be used to upload student assignments and create a student portfolio at the same time, which save a great deal of time in assessments and long-term evaluations.

Grading is one of my least favourite things of all time in life. However, grading is essential in providing feedback for students to be able to grow and understand where their development aligns with a course. So this goes two-fold for me. One, I hate grading supremely mundane things that I know students will likely ignore, or not care about unless it has significant weighting. This is where I try to set boundaries and not "over-grade" by providing too much feedback. Second, heavily weighted items normally is where most value can be gained. So putting effort here knowing that students have opportunity to grow is where I try to be consistent. But timeboxing this is key to plan an achieve goal to balance multiple priorities.

Establish specific work hours and stick to them, avoiding the temptation to work late into the night or on weekends. Remember, beloved, that every piece of work does not need to be graded. Understanding the difference between formative and summative assessments—and how they fit into your unit—leads you to a path of peace. I only officially grade work that directly impacts the summative. For instance, I will grade a rough draft of an essay, but a Quick Write or homework gets a glance and a check mark for completion.

Have conversations. Find a mentor or colleague who's made this all work. Chances are, they've realized what ACTUALLY needs to be planned out, they've streamlined this process, and they also can tell you that "hey, did you realize there are waaaay easier methods of assessing without all this grunt work?" Seriously, do you think you have to have a rubric for everything? (Well, if you do, utilize it digitally, make it easy to understand for students and yourself, and K.I.S.S.) I used to think every little thing needed a grade attached to it - but there are better ways.

One thing I have found helpful is taking a break whenever I feel overwhelmed and taking the time to do what will keep me happy just to get a dopamine boost to continue.....this usually enhances my creative state when I get back to the task.
