However, this fast-paced environment will drive you to learn quickly the things that you actually need to know, which college won't teach you. Sometimes the preferred software for your particular office will be things you've never heard of. Being familiar with communication tools is important, but also: video editing, screen capture (with onscreen writing options), and networking tools like SVN (sometimes GIT, but less secure). Also be aware that outsourced studios may use different software that you'll need to know. Good communication is key.

Be very familiar with the culture of the studio you're working with and even if you don't know the language. But better if you do know the language, especially honorifics and appropriate greetings. Sometimes you'll only work with maybe 5 people yourself, but each of those people are managing 10 others. So the quality of the work will vary. Determine when an asset needs to be sent back, or when it's good enough for you to finish yourself to keep things in budget.

Eg, "What's the best way for me to address this for you?" Some cultures may not be comfortable working with women, or may call you sir thinking that only men can work your position. Be patient with these interactions and if you think something was inappropriate, talk to your mentor first. Study the language when you can.

Lists are your greatest asset and organizing sudden tasks by priority or ease will help you get a lot done. If you find yourself overwhelmed, don't be afraid to decline tasks. "I've got a lot on my plate. Maybe another intern could take this on, or maybe you could help me finish this big project so I can be free to take on what you're asking." Approach problems linearly. Tackle 1 issue at a time and take breaks. You deserve a little extra breakroom candy if you just finished something hard. Prioritize your mental health: plants, ambience, photos in the office. A clear mind fixes problems better.
