Cataloging is a skill many librarians don't have so for you to be valuable in an internship role in any library, please learn not just the basics of cataloging but also the core aspect of it. Just like most Science students run away from Mathematics that is how most Librarians run away from cataloging. For cataloging basics, use ABLE and also vist ALA sites to access free trainings as well. Also, ensure you practice constantly and follow existing trends to stay relevant and grow from internship roles to permanent roles.

Hands-on events are always a great idea, whether it be a makerspace, craft, or cooking demonstration. People enjoy learning new things and libraries are all about learning. I also recommend surveying some of your regular patrons to find out what kinds of programs they would like to see the library host.
