It depends on type of assignment. When details matter, it's important to maintain accuracy. But when a general overview is aim, time can be more important than accuracy. This is ofcourse unique in every project, but the bottom line is know what you are doing and why you did it that way or why you have those results.

Every project is different. Scope, deliverables and timeline are always good indicators of what the project entails. Usually, and in my 22 years of working with GIS, I tend to agree with the following: 1. Accurate data equals accurate results. 2. Good and cheap won’t be fast. 3. Fast and good won’t be cheap. 4. Cheap and fast won’t be good.

Une de mes expériences marquantes a été lorsque j'ai automatisé la délimitation des bassins versants et l'identification des points bas en utilisant les pentes et les informations des canalisations contenues dans la table attributaire. En combinant divers outils SIG comme ArcGIS, QGIS, et Global Mapper, j'ai pu intégrer ces données pour générer automatiquement les zones de drainage et les points critiques, sans avoir à passer par un traitement manuel fastidieux. La vitesse d’un projet SIG a été toujours l’épine dorsale. Les deadlines serrés peuvent entacher sérieusement la qualité des résultats si nous ne prenons garde à aborder le projet séquence par séquence. L’organisation des données suivi et surtout l’automatisation des process d’analyses doivent être sous notre suivi et contr?le afin de fournir des résultats de qualité dans les délais impartis

If it’s a smaller-scale project the colleagues will get the luxury of time to plan all aspects of project with the deadlines. When it comes to large-scale projects with crucial deadlines, the colleagues must do a proper planning in scratching stage to avoid the difficulties in the data accuracy, project speed & quality process and not to compromise in any aspects. Because it will show the difficulties on project delivery and project budget.

It depends on the accuracy needed for the project, in other words we need to know what are going to do with the output, maybe we are going to use it as a guidance layer, so the accuracy is less needed. And the opposite is right also, but as we said previously, it depends on our perspective.

the scope of project defines the problem within an area (area) and its solution using gis technology. each gis/mapping technology offers unique capability on the smallest mappable unit per data capture (speed) which will be represented in a form of certain scale/resolution (1 accuracy) of map or data output. so matching the right technology (1 speed) and problem (2 area) to get an ideal output (3 accuracy) will give us an idea on the balance between data accuracy and project speed. if we focus on the ideal output then we already know which technology may be used to manage the project speed, eg: high accuracy data may be less important to produce a mineral reconnaissance map
