This is actually the fun part of being a data analyst, even though it's challenging. For me, I go beyond knowing the problem to understanding the 'source' of the problem. This saves a lot of future time, as you don’t keep coming back to solve recurring problems.

Scope the problem correctly. Gather information. Understand the true goals of the analysis. Define what needs to get done by when. Put this all together in a clear and concise written problem statement that gets signed off on by all stakeholders.

In a recent credit scoring excercise i was intact with using random forest for credit Worthiness. But an idea came so i implemented Logistic regression as well as naive bayes. It actually provided me with a comparison and on the basis of AUC the intial random forest came second. This made me realise its never too late to try something new.

The whole point is to get yourself relaxed specially when working with data and analysing it. Just seeing numbers for a few hours can be exhausting. I personally say that we should take breaks daily, weekly and when the deadline is approaching. This will help you recollect your thoughts and getting those thoughts to execute into a practical idea to solve a data challenge. Sometimes it helps you see what you cannot see working rigorously on the project.

If you need creativity to solve the problem then one of the best thing you can do is to 'sleep on it'. Tring solving issues through the day conditions brain to that task and during night sleep it will try more new connections to allocate that problem. Which can result find solution next day What if you can wait till next day? Leverage power naps - this is skill that need to develope first to be most efficient. It will reset your metal resources and will give your brain to time process some of the information.

Never loose cool or get angry as this will further affect your ability to think and find solution(s) or alternative. Another point to remember is keep team together as two or more minds thinking is better than one and can multiple solutions based on team members experience

As a data analyst there might come times when we have hit a roadblock and unable to come to proper solution, things that can be done at those times are 1. Performing RCA of the issue that is causing the road block. 2. Often breaking the problem in parts will help in reaching a solution or help in identifying the root cause. 3. Sometimes the challenges can be technical, if know how is the issue there are sources available online or other forums to seek help. Also, speaking to an SME might also be helpful during these times.

Additionally, consider reviewing previous work or research related to the problem. Look for similar challenges others have faced and how they were successfully resolved. Learning from the experiences of others can provide valuable insights and inspire new ideas. Leveraging existing knowledge and resources can save time and effort in finding a solution.
