I think the plus point of freelancing is the ability to learn from different people, situations and companies in a much shorter periods of time. The downside is that the work may not be as frequent as you would like.

"Freelance" is a huge umbrella topic. Focus on what value you are delivering specifically. Organizational development, operations & maintenance, regulatory compliance, sustainability, etc. My advice is not to water down the delivery and focus on service level agreements ie: what is the client need. No reason to jump into something that you have no subject matter expertise in.

Two things: #1 - You get to select your clients and they get to select you. This builds a partnership right at the beginning of the relationship. #2 - Scope, there will typically be a contract that will define what you need to deliver. This is key so there is no confusion on the work that you will conducting for the client.
